NAVY LEAGUE of the United States

What We Do

The objective and purpose of the Navy League is educational and motivational. We must acquire and display before the citizens of our country information as to the conditions of our naval and maritime forces. We must awaken interest and support in all matters which aid our maritime capabilities.

The Navy League of the United States' missions are:

  • to enhance the morale of active-duty personnel and their families;
  • inform Congress and the American public on the importance of strong sea services; and
  • support youth through programs such as theNaval Sea Cadet Corps, Junior ROTC and Young Marines that expose young people to the values of our sea services

with the following objectives:

  • To foster and maintain interest in a strong Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard and Merchant Marine as integral parts of a sound national defense and vital to the freedom and economic prosperity of the United States.
  • To serve as a means of educating and informing the American people with regard to the role of sea power in the modern era and the challenges involved in maintaining strong national defenses.
  • To improve the understanding and appreciation of those who wear the uniforms of our armed forces and to better the conditions under which they live and serve.
  • To educate and train our youth in the customs and traditions of the Navy, the Marine Corps, the Coast Guard, and the Merchant Marine, through the support of an active and vigorous U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps and the promotion and recognition of the national ROTC/JROTC programs.
